Coamey, Jerry,
d. February 4, 2005.
My father, Jerry
Coamey Sr. (birth name Gerald E. Coamey Jr.), passed away on
February 4, 2005, at the age of 65, after a nearly 2-year
battle with lung cancer. He was born in G.B. and was the son
of Jeremiah and Helen Coamey. My dad and mom lived at 7
Beacon Court from the early 1960s until moving to Bradenton,
Florida, in 2001, after my dad retired from a 40 plus year
career with Con Edison. My dad is survived by his wife
Carole (nee Londis, his sons, Gerald Jr. and Andrew, his
sisters Helen Barclay and Pat Minze, his two grandchildren,
Nicholas and Olivia, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was
a coach of the Braves in the G.B. Senior Little League for
over a decade, and also ran the CYO basketball program at
Resurrection for several years. He was an altar boy at
Resurrection under Father Shevlin, and was very involved
with the Cort Club. My dad loved his years as a young man in
G.B., as well as raising his two sons, with my mom, in the
neighborhood. He maintained his lifelong friendship with
several other G.B. men and women, including Jack Flynn, Tony
Monaco, and Mike Rossi, who either lived in Florida or
visited often.
Pat Hughes Schachel d. January
1998
It will be eight years
this month since Pat passed away. I am sure many of you
who read this were friends of Pat's and will fondly
recall the good times we shared with her as teenagers in
GB. The summer days & nights at the Point, the
Resurrection dances, the parties and all the happy and
sad times we were a part of. She would be pleased to
know she is remembered on the GB Website. Pat and her
husband Bob Schachel moved to Florida with their family
quite a few years ago, but the good times we shared
growing up will always be a special memory.
Pat would have been 58 years
old this February. Happy Birthday in Heaven, Girlfriend
